Building Teams, Breaking Barriers
The Brief 📝
Last season we were asked to work on this great project for Bolton Wanderers and their shirt sponsor Domis Construction, to celebrate Women In Construction Week. To highlight the collaboration between the two partners, and the huge impact the women who work and play for them are having, we came up with a range of visual links between the worlds of football and construction that we could film using props. We were also asked to ideate and film some light-hearted social content with the players to test their knowledge of the construction industry.
The Challenge 🤔
Given budget and production timelines, there was no opportunity to recce any of the spaces or to brief any of the contributors ahead of arriving on site, so we had to take a very reactive approach and make every shot count. We were also attending a real training session for the Bolton Wanderers women’s side, so time and availability of players was limited.
The Approach 🎥
All shot across three locations in one afternoon/evening, with a single camera, we had to operate quickly and efficiently but had a lot of fun doing so. We shot on the Sony FX6 with a Sigma Art 50mm prime lens and ¼ pro mist filter. The shoot was largely conducted using available light, with the preparation and gearing up scenes the exception.
As a result, we think this a great example of the high levels we can achieve with limited means.
